Finding your driver...

Rome's Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino (Code FCO) Airport (located in the coastal town of Fiumicino and servicing Rome city and Civitavecchia port) is small for a big city airport.  Terminals B and C (also now collectively called "T#3") are close together, with a short 3 minute walk from one end to the other of the public concourse.  The airport is disorganized, with few recognizable features.  To insure that we located you quickly, we have chosen an easy-to-find meet-up spot as detailed below.

Get your luggage inside the Security Zone, pass Customs, and after you enter the public area, turn LEFT and go a 20 yards to find our designed meet-up spot "PIZZERIA BY CHEF EXPRESS".  (You can also grab a refreshment or go to the bathroom.)

  Timing of your pickup:

The airport has a slow luggage retrieval and baggage carousel system manned by personnel who take frequent coffee breaks.  Also, most arriving passengers must pass through Immigration as well as Customs and Homeland Security checkpoints before leaving the Security Zone.  Typically most passengers will not arrive to the public area for at least 60 minutes after the arrival of their aircraft, and more likely closer to 90 minutes.

Therefore, unless requested otherwise, your driver will be at the starting 50 minutes after the actual arrival time of your flight.  So, for example, if you flight lands at 8 am, your driver will be at the Chef Express Pizzeria at 8:50 am.

Arriving in a foreign land can be stressful. This way you can go through the arrival process in a relaxed fashion knowing your driver will be waiting for you at the appropriate time. Unless you requested otherwise, your driver will then wait for 70 minutes, or until a total of 2 hours after your flight has landed.

Very important notice about lost luggage at the Rome airport... IT'S OUT OF CONTROL!

Missing luggage is has become a daily occurrence at the airport, especially for those who have changed flights before arriving.  On some days as many as a third of passengers on any particular flight have lost bags!

If you find that your bags are missing, you will be required to file a claim INSIDE the Security Zone.  This can take up to one hour, and worse, your driver will have no way of knowing that you have even arrived in Rome, as we cannot enter the Security Zone. Normally, the driver will wait until 2 hours after your flight has landed, then leave, and you will be charged in full for an airport service.

Therefore, if you find yourself in this predicament, find a fellow passenger who has a cell phone and ask if they will call our Emergency phone numbers at the top of this page.  Or go to the guard at the exit and tell him what happened.  You will be permitted to leave the Security Zone to go find your driver at our meet-up spot.  Be sure to bring your ticket and your Passport with you so you can return.

Also, if you have a cell/mobile phone that is "tri-band" GSM enabled, turn it on as soon as your plane lands to give it time to connected to the local phone network.

And may we suggest you print out this page and take it with you?

Bring your cell phone & turn it on upon landing

Once we have met you, we will take you to your destination in Rome city, the Vatican, Civitavecchia port docks, or anywhere else in central Italy.
